Systemic treatment and the H1N1 flu vaccine
LÉVIS,
All patients who are receiving systemic treatment (methotrexate, cyclosporine, biotherapy) MUST get the flu vaccine as soon as possible. Those taking acitetrin can follow the regular vaccination schedule. It is recommended that anyone receiving biotherapy receive the vaccination. Systemic treatments affect the immune system, which is why it is important to be vaccinated for your protection.
If patients receiving systemic treatment contract the (A)H1N1 virus, they MUST stop treatment until they recover. Be sure to receive a proper diagnosis from a health care specialist. Please note that the information in this press release does not replace the advice of your qualified health care professional.
