MONTREAL, May 28, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - On the eve of the Montreal Grand Prix, TAG Heuer will host the #DontCrackUnderPressure Challenge with Red Bull Racing Formula One driver, Daniel Ricciardo, New England Patriots quarterback, Tom Brady and Montreal Impact forward, Didier Drogba. The venerable athletes will gather in Montreal to celebrate TAG Heuer's partnership with Red Bull Racing ahead of the competition on Sunday.
The event will take place at Victoria Square outside of the W Hotel, where the park will be transformed with astroturf into a football field, complete with a TAG Heuer goal post. Spectators are encouraged to stop by and try their luck at scoring goals beginning at 6:30 pm before the event starts. Famed quarterback Tom Brady will be the first to undertake the challenge, and set the benchmark for the number of goals scored within a minute. Daniel Ricciardo and Didier Drogba will strive to beat Brady's record in less than three minutes. Each successful goal raises $1,000 for Sainte-Justine Hospital in Montreal. Though auto racing, football and soccer each require different technical skills, Ricciardo, Brady and Drogba each share the qualities of determination, strength and a commitment to excellence that endears them to fans and ensures they #Don'tCrackUnderPressure.
Each athlete will wear one of TAG Heuer's special edition watches to celebrate the brand's longstanding connection to racing. Ricciardo and Drogba will sport the TAG Heuer Red Bull Racing Formula One limited edition watch, a chronograph created by the Swiss masters of the movement to commemorate the brand's partnership with Red Bull Racing. The limited edition was created in the spirit of TAG Heuer's signature Formula One series, yielding a high performance watch inspired by automotive technology. The watch boasts a tachymeter, three white counters, (a running second counter, a minute chronograph counter and a 1/10th of a second and hour chronograph counter), indexes with luminescent markers and a caseback with special "Red Bull Racing" decoration. The watch is available with a steel bracelet or a blue textile strap with red stitching inspired by the racing belt.
Tom Brady will wear the reissue of the Monza, a numbered edition heritage chronograph that was designed by Jack Heuer in 1976 to celebrate Niki Lauda's first world championship title. The Calibre 17 timepiece comprises a titanium case with a black dial, complete with "Monza" printed and the vintage Heuer logo. The dial also includes a minute chronograph counter and a running second counter, as well as vintage SNL hour markers and luminescent hour and minute markers. The Monza also features printed tachymeter and pulsometer scales on the flange and the vintage Heuer logo and the engraved number of the issue are printed on the caseback. The watch bracelet is a black perforated calfskin leather strap, inspired by vintage steering wheels, and has a black titanium clasp.
