MONTREAL, Feb. 13, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - Devimco, developer of the big District Griffin real estate project, has decided to celebrate Valentine's Day in an original way by offering hot chocolate to all motorists and pedestrians who pass by the intersection of Peel and Wellington streets on the mornings and late afternoons of February 13, 14 and 15.
A Hot Chocolate Squad, decked out in District Griffin colours, will be distributing the hot drinks from an ice bar during the morning and afternoon rush hours: 7-9 a.m. and 4:30-6:30 p.m.
Squad members will also be handing out invitations to attend three "theme Wednesdays," called "Les mercredis District Griffin", to be held February 29 and March 14 and 28 at the new sales office at 1040 Wellington Street.
A video will be shot on February 13 and posted the next day to Facebook and the website www.districtgriffin.com.
District Griffin is the largest multi-use real estate project in Montréal, with a total investment of $736 million.
Devimco has started selling the first condos in Phase II. This phase will have five towers in the block bounded by Basin Street to the south, du Séminaire Street to the west, Ottawa Street to the north and Rioux Street to the east. The occupants of the 768 planned residential units will be living near Griffintown, St. Ann and Basin parks. More than 40% of the condos that have been put on the market in the first building have been sold.
Phase I of District Griffin will consist of four city blocks bounded by Wellington Street to the north, Shannon Street to the east, the Lachine Canal to the west, and Smith Street to the south, alongside the railway viaduct. The first block alone, bounded by Wellington, Peel, Young and Smith streets, will include 188 condominium units, the 154-room ALT Hotel well as shops, restaurants and more than 75,000 square feet of office space. Work began last June and is to be completed by June 2013.
Phase III will consist of three towers housing a total of 420 condo units, along with commercial space on the first two floors. They will be located on Peel Street north of Wellington Street. Construction will begin in a few months.
