Talks Continue Between General Motors and Chrysler
TORONTO, Sept. 19, 2012 /CNW/ - The CAW is continuing talks with both General Motors and Chrysler in downtown Toronto. The union has been focused on meeting with the two companies since reaching an agreement with Ford on September 17, hours before the deadline.
CAW President Ken Lewenza says that he's optimistic that the union will be able to come to agreements with the two companies.
"There are still a number of challenging issues to work through," said CAW President Ken Lewenza. "We're not there yet, but as long as we keep making progress at the bargaining table, we will continue to negotiate."
The CAW represents approximately 21,000 workers at General Motors, Chrysler and Ford. Ratification meetings for all CAW-Ford locations are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday of this week. The ratification results will be released on Sunday evening via CNW.
Negotiations opened on August 14-15.
