MISSISSAUGA, ON, June 5, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Target is pleased to announce that Aliments du Québec and Aliments préparés au Québec certified food products will be available in all its Quebec stores. Target will feature a wide variety of certified Aliments du Québec and Aliments préparés au Québec products, including frozen foods, dairy products, perishables, baked goods, bread, snacks and beverages.
"Target is excited to participate in the Aliments du Québec program. We realize how important it is for Quebecers to be able to easily identify local food products when shopping," said John Morioka, senior vice-president, merchandising, Target Canada. "This initiative is a good example of our commitment to being part of the communities in which we do business."
Founded in 1996 by members of the Quebec food industry, the Conseil de Promotion de l'Agroalimentaire Québécois (CPAQ), better known as Aliments du Québec, is the holder of the unique label of origin for Quebec agri-food products. The label manages two certifications: Aliments du Québec (which certifies products entirely made from ingredients sourced in Quebec or composed of a minimum of 85% of main ingredients from Quebec), and Aliments préparés au Québec (which certifies products processed and packaged entirely in Quebec).
"Seven out of ten consumers believe it is important to identify Quebec food products at the point-of-sale," said Mr. Florent Gravel, President of CPAQ. "I am pleased to see Target's dedication and investment in promoting Aliments du Québec products."
Target plans to open 25 stores across Quebec in the fall.
