TCL Announces Plan to Enter Canadian TV Market
America's Fastest-Growing TV Brand Plans to Expand into Canada in Q3 with Award-Winning TCL Roku TV Models; Names Consumer Electronics Veteran Steven Abrams as Director of Business Development
CORONA, Calif., June 28, 2018 /CNW/ -- TCL®, one of the world's largest and America's fastest-growing television brand, today announced plans to expand its successful TV business into Canada in Q3. To lead the expansion, TCL appointed Steven Abrams as Director of Business Development in Canada. Abrams brings more than 20 years of leadership and product management experience in the consumer electronics industry. He will be tasked with building the TCL brand in Canada, along with overseeing business operations and development.
"We are thrilled about the Canadian market opportunity and look forward to bringing our successful TCL Roku TV™ models to Canada in Q3. In the first quarter of 2018, TCL held the #2 position by units sold in the U.S. and we look forward to replicating our successes in Canada," said Chris Larson, Senior Vice President, TCL North America. "TCL is fortunate to have such a talented, well-seasoned leader like Steven join the team. His vast experience and knowledge, both in the Canadian market and consumer electronics space, will help us maintain our rapid growth while launching the brand into new territory and mirror our booming television business in North America for a stronger worldwide presence."
Prior to joining TCL, Abrams recently served as National Director of Sales for Funai Corporation Inc. where he was responsible for the sales, marketing and distribution management of Philips, Magnavox and Sanyo branded electronics products within the Canadian market. Having previous experience with Coby Electronics, LG and JVC, Steven is well-qualified to establish the TCL brand and grow its dominance in this market. In addition to his success on the manufacturer side of the business, Abrams previously held the post as Merchandise Manager for Future Shop (Best Buy Canada) handling product purchasing, marketing and merchandising to achieve TV sales targets.
"As a global leader in technology, TCL has successfully positioned itself as a major contender within North America in just a few short years due to its integrated supply chain and massive worldwide scale for incredible value without compromise. My goal is to further solidify TCL's spot as one of the top three TV brands in the world," said Abrams. "I'm excited to come on board and continue the company's phenomenal achievements by helping to make the TCL name a trusted one here in Canada. Hopefully soon, the fastest-growing TV brand in the U.S. will be the fastest-growing television brand in North America!"
