TCM Announces New Executive Director at its AGM

One of Canada's oldest missions announces new Executive Director Dave Addison takes the helm on December 2, 2013.

TORONTO, Nov. 28, 2013 /CNW/ - At its AGM on November 27, 2013, Toronto City Mission's (TCM) Board of Directors welcomed Dave Addison as its new Executive Director effective December 2, 2013.   Dave Addison is an experienced business executive, spiritual leader, and effective communicator, and brings a unique combination of corporate experience, ministry service and infectious energy to TCM as the organization begins its next phase of work in transforming families in high priority communities in Toronto.

Board of Directors Chair Houston Cheng said Addison is the perfect choice to continue TCM's strong voice in improving the lives of families impacted by poverty in Toronto. "We believe Dave is the right leader in carrying out TCM's strategic goals," said Cheng. "Dave can parlay his vast leadership and ministry experience to make positive changes in the lives of children, youth and families. Dave has a heart for helping people among us who are in need, and we look forward to the experience and energy he will bring to TCM."

Addison is well-known in the local ministry community, currently serving as Trustee at St. Paul's Anglican Church on Bloor Street and as a long-time volunteer with Community Centre 55.  As TCM's incoming Executive Director, Addison says, "I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to serve God, TCM and the needy within this city."

Addison takes the reins from Andrew Schell, whose eight years of dedicated service helped transform TCM into a focused ministry.  TCM staff work with community partners to offer preventative and transformational programs to equip children, youth and adults to make good life decisions and to create positive, lasting change.  Since 1879, TCM has impacted over 65,000 lives and operates sites in Jane-Finch, Kingston-Galloway, St James Town, Steeles-L'Amoreaux, Victoria Village, and Willowtree.
