MONTREAL, Sept. 17, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - A brand new TD Canada Trust branch was inaugurated on Saturday, September 15, 2012, at 5790 Monkland Avenue in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce. At the event, TD executives donated $5,000 to local organization Action Communiterre on behalf of the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation (TD FEF).
"When TD inaugurates a branch, it is a tradition to support a local organization that is committed to community development and well-being," said Christine Marchildon, Senior Vice-President, Branch Banking and Chair, Quebec Market, TD Bank Group. "Providing financial services is not just about convenient service and flexible banking hours, it also means being involved in and supporting the community. This is one of our fundamental values at TD. "
Here to serve you 67 hours a week!
The new branch has over 5,000 square feet of space and is staffed by 13 employees. It will provide both personal and small business banking services. In addition, a conference room within the branch will be made available to local business people and organizations. Located in the heart of a charming village with a vibrant community life, the branch will be open seven days a week for a total of 67 hours.
"The history of Monkland Village dates back to 1804. Today, this neighbourhood with its thriving commercial artery has a distinct cosmopolitan flair. The village attracts many young families, who settle here and contribute to its vitality. Monkland Avenue's many shops, businesses and offices make it the ideal location to offer comfortable banking services," added Alexander Naim, Branch Manager.
$5,000 for an urban agriculture training program
TD FEF donated $5,000 to local organization Action Communiterre in order to develop an urban agriculture training program for neighbourhood children. The workshops will be held in the Cantaloup garden, one of the YMCA's organic community gardens in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, run by the organization.
"TD's contribution to our urban agriculture training project is invaluable," said Walid Touabti, Coordinator at Action Communiterre. "Children spend one quarter of their days outside yet their schoolyards are all too often concrete or asphalt. This program allows them to enjoy nature, develop their knowledge of horticulture and especially to raise their awareness of the importance of protecting their environment."
