Former Leader of the Official Opposition will support TD Securities and its global clients on best practices in navigating complex economic, trade, environmental and political issues and support women in leadership initiatives
TORONTO, June 19, 2018 /CNW/ - TD Securities is pleased to announce that it has established a relationship with The Honourable Rona Ambrose. Ms. Ambrose will support TD Securities and its global clients on best practices in navigating complex economic, trade, environmental and political issues. As a well-known champion of women and girls, Ms. Ambrose will also further TD Securities' commitment to women in leadership initiatives.

Ambrose's focus will be on TD Securities in Canada. The appointment is effective June 18, 2018.

Ambrose is a dynamic national leader, former Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada and former Leader of Canada's Official Opposition. By the time she announced her retirement from politics in 2017, Ms. Ambrose had served as a cabinet minister for nine government departments, including serving as Vice Chair of the Treasury Board and as chair of the cabinet committee for public safety, justice, and aboriginal issues. She is responsible for the development of several federal level policies, including two national industrial strategies, the national shipbuilding strategy and the national defense procurement strategy.
Ambrose has been a passionate advocate for women and girls and led the global movement to create the "International Day of the Girl" at the United Nations (celebrated on October 11th of each year). Her work in this field also ensured that Indigenous women in Canada were granted equal matrimonial rights. She has been a lifelong advocate to end violence against women and girls. As a leader in promoting diversity, Ambrose is proud to be the first leader of the Conservative Party to march in a Pride parade.
In addition to serving as an independent corporate director, Ambrose is a Global Fellow at the Woodrow Wilson Centre Canada Institute in Washington DC, focusing on key Canada US bilateral trade and competitiveness issues. She also serves on the Prime Minister's NAFTA Advisory Council, the board of Plan International Canada, the advisory board of the Canadian Global Affairs Institute, and is co-chair of the Max Bell School of Public Policy at McGill. Ms. Ambrose has been honoured with numerous awards throughout her career, including being named the hardest-working MP, being presented with the Canadian AIDS Society leadership pin, the Friends of Africa Humanity Award, and the UN Women Canada National Committee Award.
