TD signs on as proud sponsor of the Segal Centre for Performing Arts
Academy's new Wandering Stars program
MONTREAL, July 15 /CNW Telbec/ - The Segal Centre for Performing Arts Academy is proud to announce that TD Bank Financial Group (TD) has signed on as sponsor of its new Wandering Stars program. TD will contribute $10,000 per year over a five-year period, for a total of $50,000, to help the program's young theatre troupe achieve its goals.
Comprised of youth aged 15-20 from diverse cultural backgrounds, Wandering Stars is the Segal Centre's summer touring troupe whose mission is to help youth that are new to Canada integrate into the Montreal community while promoting intercultural dialogue.
"In addition to giving youth the tools for intercultural harmony through the arts, this program is a unique mentorship opportunity because there are talented and respected professional artists working right alongside emerging talent", said Artistic Director Bryna Wasserman.
"For years TD has been recognized as an employer that gets involved in the communities in which its employees and customers live and work, and with the 150th anniversary of our presence in Quebec we have the perfect opportunity to share our passion for culture with all Quebecers," said Bernard Dorval, Deputy Chair, TD Canada Trust and Group Head, Insurance and Global Development, TD. "It brings us great pleasure to be supporting the Segal Centre's summer touring troupe," he added.
The first phase of the Wandering Stars tour includes summer camps and public parks in and around Montreal, from July 12 to August 12, 2010. For more information about the tour, visit the program's Web page at: http://www.segalcentre.org/en/the_academy/wandering_stars.
