TD's Dominic Mercuri named Canada's Marketer of the Year
TORONTO, Dec. 8, 2014 /CNW/ - Dominic Mercuri, Executive Vice-President and Chief Marketing Officer of TD Bank Group has been named Canada's 2014 Marketer of the Year by the Canadian Marketing Association.
The award was presented at the CMA Awards Gala on Friday night in Toronto and recognizes Mercuri's pivotal role in building a Canadian brand that is today recognized across Canada and in the United States for customer service, convenience and comfort.
"Dominic Mercuri has risen to the top of Canada's marketing community because of his ability to continually deliver marketing programs with impressive results. We are pleased to recognize these accomplishments and Dominic's mark on our industry by naming him CMA's 2014 Marketer of the Year," said CMA President and CEO John Gustavson.
With Mercuri at the helm overseeing a team of over 350 marketers, TD has climbed to number one in Interbrand's ranking of top Canadian brands. And the green chair -- introduced in 2001 -- has remained a highly recognizable visual asset, integrated across the company's marketing platform and the branches themselves.
"I am humbled by and appreciative of this honor and recognize that it takes many people to create a brand as strong as ours," said Dominic Mercuri. "Together with the many talented marketing professionals with whom I work, I salute the thousands of employees who serve our 22 million customers – and whose legendary service truly brings the TD brand to life."
The CMA Marketer of the Year Award is awarded to the Canadian individual who has continually displayed outstanding marketing acumen and leadership. This award may represent either a body of work or an extraordinary achievement within the past year that has forwarded the cause of marketing in Canada and perhaps beyond Canada's borders. The three most recent recipients of the CMA Marketer of the Year Award were Dani Reiss, President and CEO of Canada Goose, Robert Deluce, President and CEO of Porter Airlines and Christine Day, CEO of Lululemon. The selection is made by a special committee of the CMA Board of Directors.
The CMA Awards Gala is the largest marketing awards event in Canada. A full list of CMA Award winners can be found on the CMA website.
