TORONTO
,
Dec. 17
/CNW/ - In addition to defeating over 1200 Chasers during the Mitsubishi City Chase Powered by BlackBerry in
Toronto
in August, and their subsequent victory after 48 hours of challenges at the North American Championships in
Quebec
City this past September; Jeremy and
David Crane
once again prevailed against teams representing 10 countries from around the world to win The 2009 City
Chase World
Championships this past week in Salta,
Argentina
.
Those who ventured to Salta in support of the race claimed that Canadians have much to be proud of as the Crane brothers' defeated Team
Singapore
by less than 10 minutes, after more than 56 hours of challenges. Second and third place winners
Singapore
and
Portugal
respectively, regarded the race as the most challenging to date. The teams participated in 25 unique ChasePoints including participating in Gaucho activities, racing on go karts on a professional track, surviving a 4-hour boot camp facilitated by the Argentinean Army, biking 60 km through steep winding roads in the mountains, flying over a river on South America's highest 750 m high zip line, and camping on a deserted island.
"The start of the race alone was breathtaking and memorable," recalls
Danielle Perron
, Vice President of City Chase Inc. The welcoming parade included government dignitaries, Inca traditional dancers with a tribe elder, a local marching band of over 200 players, confetti guns, fireworks, and thousands of people lining the street to welcome the teams. Perron credits the amazing partnership between
Argentina
Tourism, the City of Salta, and the Saltenean kindred spirit and hospitality for the true success of the race.
After celebrating in
South America
for the next few days, the Crane brothers will return to
Canada
on
Monday December 21st
, and are looking forward to sharing stories about their Argentinean adventures.
As World Champions, David and Jeremy have won a trip to a Right To Play project and will experience first hand how they have helped to create a healthier and safer world for children through the power of sport and play.
