Team Generous animators premiere short film to make a difference for Habitat for Humanity Canada
CAMPBELL RIVER, BC, Oct. 4, 2014 /CNW/ - Team Generous, a creative collaborative who annually gather volunteer animation filmmakers to create a short film for a non-profit organization, earlier this evening premiered their newest film, produced over a two week period to raise awareness for Habitat for Humanity Canada.
"Each year, Team Generous chooses a charitable organization whose work we support and story we feel can effectively be told through an animated short," said Jericca Cleland, organizer of Team Generous Canada 2014. "Habitat for Humanity Canada, like us, believes that a safe, decent and affordable home is the foundation for stability and success, and we saw the potential to tell this story and spread this idea though animation and visual metaphor."
This year the group of animators convened in Campbell River, British Columbia. The two-week event was kicked-off by a day of volunteering on a Habitat for Humanity Vancouver Island North build site, followed by extensive time spent in an animation studio. The result is a 90 second animated short themed around the necessity of a solid foundation for communities and families to flourish.
"The film truly encapsulates the essence of Habitat for Humanity and the hand up we provide to low-income families in communities nationwide," said Mark Rodgers, chief operating officer of Habitat for Humanity Canada. "We couldn't be more appreciative of Team Generous and the time and effort that has gone into this incredible film."
The film's premier, held at the Tidemark Theatre in Campbell River earlier this evening, kicks off Habitat for Humanity Canada's recognition of the UN-designated World Habitat Day, which this year falls on Monday, October 6.
