Teamsters Canada apologizes to Clean Harbors
Teamsters Canada wishes to apologize to Clean Harbors...
LAVAL, QC, Aug. 16, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Teamsters Canada would like to apologize to Clean Harbors for the press release issued on August 9 ("Clean Harbors workers ratify their first collective agreement").
While Teamsters Canada recognizes that the press release of August 9 can be read and interpreted in ways unintended by us we do not want any person or persons who have read it to assume Clean Harbors is the type of Company that would tolerate the kind of conduct that was mentioned in the release. Amongst other core values claimed by Clean Harbors, two of which are teamwork and communications as well as employees and community relations. During collective bargaining, both parties proposed and agreed to specific language in the collective agreement expressly prohibiting such conduct.
The union regrets any inconvenience this may have caused and would like to assure Clean Harbors' management that from now on, careful attention will be paid to any communications in connection with this organization.
In the pursuit of the betterment of the membership and their families, the Executive Board and staff of Teamsters Local Union 362 will strive to work towards a professional relationship with Clean Harbors Energy and Industrial Services based on foundations of mutual respect.
This retraction will appear on the Teamsters Canada website and on Canada Newswire as well as on the union's Facebook and Twitter pages.
The Teamsters represents 115,000 members in Canada in all trades. The International Brotherhood of Teamsters, with which Teamsters Canada is affiliated, has 1.4 million members in North America.
