has announced that his organization has donated

to assist the Haitian population in the terrible aftermath of the earthquake on
January 12th
.

to assist the Haitian population in the terrible aftermath of the quake that hit
January 12th

Local unions Officers and the president of Teamsters
Canada
began spontaneously talking to one another in the hours and days following the earthquake to discuss the assistance the union would provide to
Haiti
.
In addition,
Robert Bouvier
, the president of Teamsters
Canada
, again invites the members of his organization as well as all Canadians to show their generosity.
"The pictures broadcast on television are distressing and show the Haitians' exemplary courage. We cannot remain indifferent to their fate and I am convinced that Canadians will continue to support them in the coming weeks and months."
The donation was given to the Canadian Red Cross yesterday by the president of Teamsters
Canada
who was accompanied by Teamsters Local Union Officers as well as members.
The Teamsters Union represents 125,000 members in
Canada
in all trades. The International Brotherhood of Teamsters, with which Teamsters
Canada
is affiliated, has 1.4 million members in
North America
