VANCOUVER, May 10, 2016 /CNW/ - For 24 hours (noon on May 6th until noon May 7th), Vancouver-based tech company A Thinking Ape pledged to donate the proceeds from the purchase of special in-game items from each of its four games to the Red Cross Alberta Fires Appeal, giving players around the world an opportunity to contribute to the relief effort. At the end of 24 hours the company raised $85,069,62 CAD for the cause.
"Many of us have friends and family in Alberta affected by this tragedy so it's hit close to home. We saw how much other businesses and individuals were helping and we knew we had to contribute in some way," said Tayber Voyer, Product Lead at the mobile game studio.
