Tech4Kids/Globe Dragon Technology Development Ltd. Announces Voluntary Recall of Splat Shot - Marvel Spider Sense Spiderman

MISSISSAUGA, ON, Feb. 3, 2012 /CNW/ - Tech 4 Kids Inc. has advised Health Canada that it is voluntarily recalling approximately 41 000 Splat Shot - Marvel Spider Sense Spiderman products sold in Canada between November 2010 and January 2012.

The recalled products include:  Splat Shot - Marvel Spider Sense Spiderman; Splat Ball - Marvel Spider Sense Spiderman; and, Splat Disc - Marvel Spider Sense Spiderman. While in use the Splat Ball - Marvel Spider Sense Spiderman and the Splat Disc - Marvel Spider Sense Spiderman may leak and expose the consumer to the antimicrobial ingredient bronopol at levels that can cause irritation and inflammation to the skin and eyes.

The company is aware of three incidents in which the product has leaked, including one which required medical attention. Out of an abundance of caution and an unwavering commitment to product quality, consumer satisfaction and safety, Tech 4 Kids has decided to recall the Splat Shot - Marvel Spider Sense Spiderman; Splat Ball - Marvel Spider Sense Spiderman; and, Splat Disc - Marvel Spider Sense Spiderman.

The basic product kit - Splat Shot - Marvel Spider Sense Spiderman - contained  two red "splat" balls (sticky exterior, light rubber balls filled with liquid) with black Spiderman logo and two full-graphic catcher paddles (splat pads). Individual Splat Balls - Marvel Spider Sense Spiderman were also sold separately as was the Splat Disc - Marvel Spider Sense Spiderman and both also displayed the black Spiderman logo. The Splat Shot set retailed for approximately $14.99, the Splat Balls, sold separately, retailed for approximately $3.99 and the Splat Disc retailed for approximately $7.99.
