MONTREAL, May 4, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - Technoparc Montréal is very pleased with the announcement made by CDPQ Infra regarding the integrated network that would include one station on its St-Laurent campus.
CDPQ Infra, a subsidiary of Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, unveiled plans on April 22, 2016 for an integrated public transportation project that would link downtown Montreal, the South Shore, the North Shore, the airport and the West Island via a light rail transit system. The project involves over 24 stations, including one at Technoparc Montréal-Campus St-Laurent. The extension of the line would directly link Technoparc Montréal-Campus St-Laurent with Montreal International Airport. Note that over 90 companies with over 6,300 employees are based in the Technoparc. In addition, three major projects are under way, for a total of more than $400 million in investments, that will create over 1,000 new jobs at the site.
"We are very happy to hear the wonderful news. We are favourably disposed towards this project. It will also significantly improve the quality of transportation, accessibility to the Technoparc and the direct link to the airport for business people. This decision is part of our efforts to favour public transit, thus creating more direct access to the site as well as a possible decrease in motor vehicle use. This will likely help increase the density of the Technoparc site," stated Carl Baillargeon, Technoparc Montréal's Director – Communications & Marketing.
Technoparc Montréal will provide its full cooperation for this large-scale project of structural importance for the Montreal economy.
