MONTREAL, Feb. 18, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Today marks the opening of Société de développement Angus's (SDA) new health center, Centre de santé Angus. Located at 4101 Molson, at the corner of Molson and William-Tremblay, located at Technopôle Angus. The center houses a Family Medicine Group (FMG), radiology and physio and occupational therapy clinics, a pharmacy, and a medical research facility.
Centre de santé Angus is SDA and its partners' way of addressing the health care shortage in Rosemont─La Petite-Patrie while offering patients all the services they need under one roof. SDA President and CEO Christian Yaccarini is excited about the project: "I'm very proud of the health center. It's a great example of how SDA works with its partners to provide essential services to the community. The brand-new facilities, state-of-the-art equipment, and innovative approach are the icing on the cake." The center is located just steps away from CLSC de Rosemont and will work closely with other local healthcare providers.
Members of Centre de santé Angus—the Angus medical clinic, RadiologiX, Réadaptation Universelle physio and occupational therapy, Uniprix, and MedPharmGene, a medical research facility - have all committed to adopting eco-friendly practices. The Angus medical clinic uses electronic medical record, as part of a broader initiative to phase out paper. This is just one of the ways Technopôle Angus helps its tenants reduce their carbon footprints as part of its steadfast commitment to sustainable development.
A virtual waiting room for a bricks and mortar clinic
The Angus medical clinic is an accredited Family Medicine Group (FMG) and Network Clinic (NC). Patients can see one of the clinic's 19 doctors with or without an appointment, 12 hours a day on weekdays and 8 hours a day on weekends and holidays, 7 days a week. Families will be especially well-served thanks to onsite general and special services for mothers and children.
One innovative feature is the "virtual waiting room," a system that cuts wait times for walk-in visits by 90%. Using automated phone notifications allows walk-in patients to wait in the comfort of their homes, an improvement that's a source of pride for Doctor François Loubert: "Patients often tell us that the virtual waiting room makes their visit to the clinic a lot more pleasant and saves them precious time."
Technopôle Angus: A center of excellence for life and health sciences
Technopôle Angus currently boasts 885 healthcare jobs distributed among Centre de Santé Angus, CSSS Lucille-Teasdale, CLSC Rosemont, the CHUM research centre, the Montreal Heart Institute's research coordination center, the Transplant-Québec headquarters, multiple biotech firms, and Maison André-Gratton, a children's hospice.
And the recently announced construction of a new head office for Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec (OIIQ), slated for completion in summer 2014, will bring 150 new healthcare professionals to the Technopôle, pushing the total to 1,035.
SDA would like to thank the many partners who made Centre de santé Angus possible: Centre de santé et de services sociaux (CSSS) Lucille-Teasdale, Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont, Polyclinique Maisonneuve-Rosemont, Centre local de services communautaires (CLSC) de Rosemont, Agence de santé et de services sociaux de Montréal (ASSS), and Quebec's Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux (MSSS).
