Technopole maritime du Québec: a key partner and catalyst for the marine science and marine technology and biotechnology sector

The Government of Canada continues to leverage the marine sector by awarding $600,000 in funding to the Bas-Saint-Laurent organization

RIMOUSKI, QC, March 12, 2019 /CNW Telbec/ - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

Technopole maritime du Québec (TMQ) is a highly innovative non-profit organization based in Rimouski. The organization has received a $600,000 non-repayable contribution from Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions to foster marine sector development and innovation.

The funding was announced today by the Honourable Pablo Rodriguez, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Multiculturalism. The Government of Canada assistance will enable the organization to pursue its activities over the next three years and, in doing so, further the development of the marine science / marine technology and biotechnology industrial cluster in Quebec.

Founded in 2000, TMQ has become a key link in the marine sector in Quebec and Canada. Its mission is to bring together and engage Quebec marine sector stakeholders around shared objectives in order to create an environment that fosters the development of businesses and organizations, helps bridge the gap between industry and research, and ensures their national and international visibility.

The Government of Canada is committed to establishing close partnerships with Quebec businesses and the organizations that support them with a view to promoting innovation, fostering productivity and competitiveness, and contributing to the economic vitality of the regions, the creation of good-quality jobs and the improvement of citizens' quality of life.
