OTTAWA, June 17, 2015 /CNW/ - Canada's largest broadcasters – CBC News, Radio-Canada, CTV News and Global News – are pleased to announce that Télé-Québec has joined the Broadcast Consortium and CPAC will broadcast the 2015 Leaders' Debates.
This first-ever federal election partnership with Télé-Québec will help ensure that the debates are seen by as many Canadians as possible. The 2015 Leaders' Debates organized by the broadcasters will have unprecedented digital reach and make them the most modern and accessible ever, reaching voters of all ages across the country. The debates will be offered across all platforms with closed captioning and simultaneous translation, and will be made available for other media outlets to distribute.
"We are very pleased that Télé-Québec has partnered with us. This will allow us to reach even more Francophone audiences and enrich the democratic experience during the 2015 election campaign" said Michel Cormier, Executive Director, News and Current Affairs – Radio-Canada and member of the Consortium.
"Recognized for showcasing diverse opinions where all societal and political issues are addressed openly and without any taboos, Télé-Québec aims to be accessible and attentive to Quebecers' concerns. It's therefore a natural fit that we contribute to public debate by airing for our viewers this program featuring the leaders of the main political parties," said Denis Dubois, Executive Director of Programming at Télé-Québec.
The broadcasters also announced today that CPAC will broadcast the 2015 Leaders' Debates in French and English.
