Telefilm Canada provides $6 million in funding to support the production of eight new feature films in French

MONTREAL, May 31, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - Telefilm Canada is backing the production of eight new feature films in French through the Canada Feature Film Fund. This is the second selection for fiscal 2012-2013. Telefilm is investing some $6 million for this second round out of a total of over $15 million invested for 2012-2013.

"This diverse selection spotlights Canadian talent that promises to make a name for themselves by their success on the national and international scene," said Michel Pradier, Telefilm's Director of Project Financing.

According to Marie-France Godbout, National Director, Feature Films - French Market, "Audiences are sure to be pleased since these films run the gauntlet of every emotion, from laughter to tears. Telefilm applauds the creativity of the teams that have brought us great stories with fascinating characters and well-constructed plots."

L'autre maison

Two brothers have very different experiences of their father Henri's decline into Alzheimer's. Éric is there every day and harbours a silent rage against his brother Gabriel, who is away on endless journeys as a reporter. In Afghanistan, Gabriel sees death up close, while Éric struggles to look after their father. The brothers will try to bring serenity to Henri's last moments. L'autre maison is documentary filmmaker Mathieu Roy's first fictional feature. A French co-production starring Michel Bouquet.

Things start to go badly in the town and soon a rescue squad is formed to retrieve the rooster from a neighbouring village that is suddenly booming. This regional animated film is full of humour and comic situations that will surely delight kids!

Called to jury duty, he ends up in Toronto where he meets Lindsay, an intriguing Anglophone with whom he shares two nights.

Foolish, doting father that he is, Gaby sells his house, his herd and his land and goes to live in a little apartment in a nearby town. Starring Gabriel Arcand.

He decides to sabotage the company by putting a tooth in a meat machine. But to his surprise, it is another partner who is kicked out. Unfortunately the package of sausages containing the tooth was bought by a couple with money problems who intend to make the most of the situation. Paul tries to save the company, but every decision takes things from bad to worse. Starring Rémy Girard and Éric Salvail in his feature film role.

A parole officer oversees the reintegration of these women who are increasingly strange and hounded by their past, endangering their freedom. Starring Pierrette Robitaille.
