Canada
is pleased to announce that it is contributing
$120,000
to the 38th edition of the Festival du nouveau cinéma (FNC), as well as
$25,000
through the Skills and Screens Program for "FNC Pro", a series of training and networking activities for media professionals. The Festival du nouveau cinéma is also receiving support of
$50,000
through the Sectoral Assistance component of the
Canada
New Media Fund.
"For close to 40 years, the FNC has showcased a selection of the world's best films, with at least half of them from
Canada
," said Sheila de La Varende, Director, National and International Business Development. "Furthermore, it has been proactively innovative in integrating new forms of creative endeavour from the digital sphere. Through its support for the FNC, Telefilm has encouraged the emergence of new talent in
Quebec
and Canadian film for more than 20 years."
The Festival du nouveau cinéma will take place October 7-18, 2009, in the Hydro-Québec Agora, located in the Coeur des Sciences building at UQAM. The festival program and schedule are available at www.nouveaucinema.ca.
