CWC spotlights Canada's outstanding communications and technology executives, companies
MONTREAL, April 17, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - Telefilm Canada's Executive Director, Carolle Brabant, was honoured last evening by Canadian Women in Communications (CWC) at its 2012 Annual Awards Gala. Ms. Brabant is a recipient of a CWC 2012 Excellence in Leadership Award. The Awards recognize nationwide leadership excellence and commitment to women's advancement and equality in the communications and technology industries. This year two leading organizations and eight top executives were spotlighted. Held at Ottawa's Fairmont Château Laurier, the Gala attracted hundreds of industry and government leaders.
"Many thanks to Canadian Women in Communications - I am truly touched by this honour," said Carolle Brabant. "I would like to share this award with my entire Telefilm team; true success for me is a team activity. I strongly believe that everyone has a contribution to make to winning outcomes.
"Finally, I would like to pay tribute to the talented Canadian women filmmakers who are passionate about their art, who help other women artists to succeed and who are leading the way for the next generation."
In his letter of congratulations, The Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, wrote: "Ms. Brabant is an excellent choice for this award. As the first female head of Telefilm in more than 20 years, she has made her mark on Canada's audiovisual industry, helping build audiences for our film and television productions at home and around the world. Her ongoing contributions to the audiovisual industry have received praise at home and abroad."
This latest distinction comes on the heels of Ms. Brabant being named one of the "13 Female Power-Players Who Rule the World" by influential industry trade The Hollywood Reporter.
Other 2012 Canadian Women in Communications honourees include CWC Woman of the Year Karen Sheriff, President and Chief Executive Officer of Bell Aliant.
