TORONTO, Aug. 20, 2013 /CNW/ - From viral video to web series to prime time show, Annoying Orange is the web sensation transformed into a television series that follows Orange and his buddies as they go on a wide range of adventures, setting out from the fruit stand to parts unknown and everything in between. This new show has its Canadian premiere on TELETOON Thursday, September 5 at 6:15 p.m. ET/PT as part of the Can't Miss Thursdays programming block.
Inspired by the web series, which boasts over 1.1 billion YouTube views to date, the television series was developed and produced by entertainment management and production company The Collective and co-created by Annoying Orange web series originator Dane Boedigheimer and Tom Sheppard (Emmy Award-winning writer for Pinky and the Brain). Season 1 consists of 30 x 15-minute episodes.
"The success of Annoying Orange online and the overwhelmingly positive reception to the television series in the U.S. has been amazing to witness," said Dane Boedigheimer, creator, Annoying Orange. "We are thrilled our fruit cart is travelling to Canada and that the television series on TELETOON will annoy a whole new nation of viewers."
Annoying Orange chronicles the adventures of Orange and pals Pear, Passion Fruit, Marshmallow, Grapefruit and Nerville (YouTube star Toby Turner) as they travel through time and space in their amazing fruit cart. From the Old West to Outer Space, Orange and crew drop into crazy adventures and are forced to squeeze their way out.
