TELUS awarded prestigious global procurement award for Learning and Development
Annual gala celebrates global procurement excellence
LONDON and TORONTO, May 24, 2013 /CNW/ - TELUS has been awarded the prestigious Global Procurement Leaders Award in the Learning & Development category at the 2013 Awards Gala held on May 22 in London, UK. The annual event celebrates global procurement excellence with more than 300 senior procurement executives from around the world.
The Learning & Development award focuses on companies that provide outstanding educational development and training for staff in the procurement function. TELUS was selected for its innovative approach to learning and development. TELUS introduced competency matrices that define 25 required strengths and skill sets for progressive roles in the Procurement and Supply Chain Management team. The matrices allow team members to identify areas of strength and development in procurement and drive specific actions and development plans for career progression.
"Across the TELUS organization and within the procurement and supply chain management team, we have established a culture of team collaboration & strong personal commitment which has contributed to the success TELUS delivers to our customers, our communities and our team members," said David Sharma, senior vice-president and Chief Procurement Officer at TELUS. "As the benchmark for global procurement excellence, we are truly honored to be the recipient of a Procurement Leaders Award focused on recognizing our team members' career development."
This year's awards event had more entrants than ever before and added six new categories including Learning and Development. TELUS was selected from a prestigious group that includes some of the world's largest companies.
"This year's awards have really brought to light the stunning progress and innovative activities that are driving procurement forward," said David Rae, Content and Community Director and Chair of Judges. "TELUS has proven itself a leader in training and development for the procurement industry with its forward-thinking approach to education development. We are pleased to reward them with this award."
