Ten charging stations now in service in the region - UQAC and Cégep de Chicoutimi join the Electric Circuit, install public charging stations for electric vehicles Français
CITY OF SAGUENAY, QC, Dec. 2, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - The Vice Rector of Resources of Université du Québec à Chicoutimi (UQAC), Dominique Bouchard, the Acting General Manager of Cégep de Chicoutimi, Alain Bouchard, and, on behalf of the partners of the Electric Circuit, Pierre-Luc Desgagné, Vice President – Public and Government Affairs at Hydro-Québec, announced today that UQAC and Cégep de Chicoutimi have become partners of the Electric Circuit, the largest network of public charging stations in Québec. UQAC commissioned a charging station installed in the parking lot located north of the Alphonse-Desjardins pavilion. The charging station at Cégep de Chicoutimi is located in the main parking lot, facing the Théâtre Banque Nationale.
"This partnership confirms the pioneering role that UQAC plays in sustainability. Its well-known influence in training and research, with its eco-advisor programs, is recognized around the world. We must now work together to make UQAC a model of sustainable development and today's announcement is a step in the right direction," said Dominique Bouchard, Vice Rector of Resources of UQAC.
"For years, Cégep de Chicoutimi has been geared towards sustainable development. Following the initiative of the environmental joint-action committee of Cégep de Chicoutimi (CACECC) and management, the decision to offer a public charging station for electric vehicles is perfectly in line with the Cégep's environmental policy. It will contribute towards a better environment for us all," added Alain Bouchard, Acting General Manager of Cégep de Chicoutimi.
"The Electric Circuit is delighted that UQAC and Cégep de Chicoutimi have chosen to make public charging stations available to support electric vehicle users", noted Pierre-Luc Desgagné, Vice President – Public and Government Affairs at Hydro-Québec, on behalf of the partners of the Electric Circuit. "I would like to congratulate our new partners and highlight their contribution to the development of the network of public charging stations in the region. On a more personal note, as the son of the founding rector of UQAC, I am particularly proud to see that this institution remains at the forefront of development."
The new charging stations at UQAC and Cégep de Chicoutimi are being added to those already provided by the city of Saguenay, Hôtel Chicoutimi and Cégep de Jonquière, which commissioned a second charging station at the end of October. This brings the total number of public charging stations currently in the region to ten.
