Ten Tree and CWF Launch INSPIRE Campaign
OTTAWA, Oct. 3, 2012 /CNW/ - The Canadian Wildlife Federation and Ten Tree Apparel are launching a new video series to get youth outside connecting to nature. #INSPIRE features the young entrepreneurs of the new environmental clothing line mountain biking, cliff diving, hiking, kayaking and white water rafting with cameo appearances by dancers, models, football players and other young and active celebrities.
"The campaign was inspired by Ten Tree story," said Wade Luzny, CEO and Executive Vice President of the Canadian Wildlife Federation. "In less than 10 months, these young entrepreneurs created a give-back company that embeds conservation into its business plan. As the name suggests, ten trees are planted for every item of clothing sold. More than 100,000 trees have been planted to date - and counting! It's incredible and is truly inspired by nature. The idea actually came to these youth while they were surfing and the details worked themselves out on a beach. CWF is proud to partner with Ten Tree to spread the message and inspire others to make a positive impact. Together we can leave a legacy of healthy wildlife and habitat."
The first video in the #INSPIRE series ends with a call to action in the form of a question: What inspires you? CWF and Ten Tree Apparel want the general public, especially youth, to forward the video via social media adding a post about their own outdoor adventures and inspirations. As the campaign grows, new videos will be developed in the #INSPIRE series.
"The purpose is to get the public using their computers to support a good cause, then getting outside to enjoy and protect the world they play in, with a special emphasis on engaging kids and young adults," said Kalen Emsley, one of the Ten Tree creators. " We also hope this campaign will create a movement to give Canadians pride in where they are from! Watch closely and you may see your community in the frames because six provinces are represented in the first video alone."
Ten Tree Apparel is available in 85 stores across Canada and the US. In addition to partnering with the Canadian Wildlife Federation, one of the oldest and largest not-for-profit conservation organizations in Canada, Ten Tree is also partnered with WeForest. The teaser for #INSPIRE netted more than 30,000 views in a just few days, demonstrating both the power of social media and desire for positive messaging. Ten Tree is also currently in the running as one of the top ten new game-changing companies in Canada on TV show The Dragon's Den.
