Nearly 7 million Canadians will pick up a tennis racquet in 2018, 30% more than five years ago including over 300% growth among kids playing frequently
TORONTO, July 3, 2018 /CNW/ - Today, Tennis Canada unveils a new campaign set to inspire a new generation of Canadians to pick up a racquet. In the #FindYourBeat campaign, we see the passion and dedication of the current generation of elite Canadian tennis players who have burst onto the world stage and made Canada an advancing tennis nation.
Despite being known as a country that produces hockey players and predominantly winter athletes, Canada is now regularly developing world-class tennis athletes and driving widespread participation in the sport at every level.
"Canadian tennis has yielded remarkable results in recent years and it's demonstrating our potential as a tennis nation," said Michael Downey, President and CEO, Tennis Canada. "#FindYourBeat provides a unique insider look at the challenges Canada's top athletes face training to compete against the world's best. We hope the campaign inspires Canadians of all ages to pick up a racquet and find their beat."
The #FindYourBeat campaign features 13 athletes and was shot in Toronto, Montreal and Croatia. The creative reflects the progressive evolution of Canadian tennis and highlights world-class athletes and emerging Canadian tennis stars of tomorrow. The end result celebrates a truly powerful and exciting moment for Canadian tennis – it's a real snapshot of more to come.
Tennis Canada annually hosts the Rogers Cup presented by National Bank, the highest attended single week tournament globally. All the Canadians profiled in the #FindYourBeat campaign will compete in the 2018 edition of the tournament which takes place August 4-12 with women's matches being played at IGA Stadium in Montreal and the men competing in Toronto at the AVIVA Centre at York University.
Tennis Canada partnered with director Jason Van Bruggen and creative agency DOT DOT DASH on the campaign.
