Tetra Pak commemorates World Milk Day with healthy how-to milk tips
TORONTO, June 1 /CNW/ - In commemoration of World Milk Day in June, Tetra Pak, a leader in sustainable dairy packaging, is encouraging Canadian families to think differently about their dairy consumption habits. To kick off a month-long observance, Tetra Pak has released a 'Daily Dairy' calendar full of nutritional facts and fun tips about milk and its benefit to a healthy lifestyle.
According to the Dairy Farmers of Canada more than one-third of Canadian children don't consume enough milk products. Further, only seven percent of milk consumption is consumed outside the home. To combat this national nutritional challenge, families are invited to visit www.tetrapak.ca to discover simple solutions to consuming calcium, even while on the go.
"Busy parents are always looking for ways to incorporate nutrition, convenience and fun into their kids' meals," said Tevfik Djamgouz, Marketing Director, Tetra Pak Canada. "Tetra Pak helps do this by providing packaging and processing solutions that make food shelf-stable - with no preservatives added or refrigeration required - allowing parents to add more milk to their kids' diets. Together with our customers, we're committed to helping consumers better understand the packaging behind the products they buy and the benefits cartons can bring to their lifestyles."
Milk in shelf-stable form has the same nutritional value as milk in the refrigerated aisle at the grocery store; it's just packaged and processed differently. Tetra Pak's shelf-stable milk boxes enable the product to retain its quality without refrigeration for up to several months from its production date. This allows families to purchase multiple units at once, while keeping unopened milk boxes safe for use in the pantry.
This month-long observance is just one of the ways that Tetra Pak is working to build further awareness of the benefits of milk for healthy living. In August, Tetra Pak Canada will announce their partnership with Breakfast for Learning, providing further details on how they will work together to support and sustain school-based nutrition programs.
