Makes Its Premiere at The CINEMANIA French Film Festival November 1 To 11, 2012
TORONTO, Oct. 22, 2012 /CNW/ - Groupe Média TFO is proud to be partnering with Montreal's CINEMANIA French Film Festival this year to celebrate the two organizations' shared passion for the art of film in general and French-language films in particular.
As Yves-Etienne Massicotte, producer of Groupe Média TFO's film franchise, puts it, "We are very enthusiastic to be partnering with the CINEMANIA Festival this year and to be supporting directors in the creation of new works of cinema by presenting the TFO Audience-Choice Award."
TFO Audience-Choice Award for Best First Feature Film
This year, to celebrate its 18th anniversary, CINEMANIA is launching an audience-choice award dedicated to new names on the French-language film scene. The public will vote to choose the winner among 13 nominated feature films, and the award will be presented on November 11, 2012 by Lucie Amyot, head of film programming at TFO. For the past 10 years, Ms. Amyot has offered TFO viewers a selection of the finest French-language films from around the world.
Maidy Teitelbaum, founder and president of CINEMANIA, adds, "We are proud to have TFO joining us as a partner to support the festival this year. We greatly admire the work that TFO does to defend and protect quality films. This new award includes a cash prize to help the winning filmmaker to develop his or her next project. This initiative also reflects CINEMANIA's desire not only to passionately and tenaciously pursue its commitment to cinema on new soil, but also to empower audience members, whose votes determine the award winner."
The quality of TFO's film offerings stands out in North America today. And this year, TFO's film franchise has been enhanced with the launch of CinéTFO (tfo.org/cine), a preferred destination for all film-lovers looking for original French-language content on the Web. In addition, every Thursday at 8:30 p.m., TFO airs Plein les vues, a TV program dedicated to film and hosted by Joseph Elfassi, with a wide range of interviews, humorous stories, and reports on current developments in film.
Festival goers and avid enthusiasts of French-language films will be charmed by the programming offered this year at CINEMANIA, which runs from November 1 to 11, 2012 in Montreal.
