MEXICO CITY, Sept. 26, 2016 /CNW/ - With 36 host cities in 21 countries, the 2016 Global Energy Race by Bimbo gathered more than 85,000 people around the world for Grupo Bimbo's most significant family sport event to-date. As part of its commitment to society, Grupo Bimbo, with the participation of Fox Sports, Powerade and Kappa, hosted the global race for a second year in a row in order to promote a more active and healthy lifestyle and to set families in motion.
Compared to the previous year, the second edition of the Global Energy Race by Bimbo increased its impact going from 22 to 36 cities and from 19 to 21 countries. In addition, this year people from around the globe ran and walked for a cause. Thanks to the participation of thousands of families, more than 1 million slices of bread will be donated to food banks in every host city.
All those who joined the 2016 Global Energy Race by Bimbo contributed to set the Guinness World Record® mark for the most 10K races held simultaneously worldwide on the same day.
Both T-shirt and medal are collectible items, and every year, for 5 editions, symbols of tenacity and inspiration will be used. This year, the distinctive image is the Temple of Heaven in Beijing, which will be the city that will host the 10k race winners. The top men and women finishers from every country will be awarded a direct ticket to the 2017 Global Energy Race in that city, for themselves and one companion.
