THC & CBD oil products not included in Canada's legalization plan leave the nation asking questions
MARKHAM, ON, Aug. 23, 2018 /CNW/ - The date is set for October 17th, 2018, both law makers and citizens are scrambling to make sense of which products will be sold. Certain medical dispensaries across Canada are uncertain of their future. Currently, Canadian dispensaries are selling medicinal products that will not be available for recreational purchase. Meaning, individuals with doctors notes that purchase cannabis will not be able to use the upcoming government stores for their specific needs.
Medicinal patients require certain concentrated products to remedy their conditions, these users will not be able to use the recreational stores. Because, omitted from Canada's legislation plan are highly-concentrated products with THC and/or CBD Oil. The typical user with epilepsy requires 2 grams of weed to deal with seizures, a time consuming and very large amount of flower to smoke. Many other conditions such as chronic pain, anxiety relief, and cancer treatment, also require a much larger than usual intake of cannabis to feel the benefits.
Some highlighted products are: Phoenix Tears which can provide a full daily dosage of CBD & THC in a grain of rice sized drop. As well as other high concentrate alternatives such as distillate, and shatter for patients with different preferences. Also edible gummies. Lastly, vape pens which can be taken on-the-go and consumed whenever necessary. None of the above will be sold by dispensaries, only flowers, capsules and oils according to bill C-45.
Omitting some of Cannabis's most innovative and popular products leaves a significant segment of the Cannabis market unaccounted for. Leaving many new and alternative methods of cannabis consumption on the sideline, in favour of strains (hybrid, indica and sativa) could be a disaster come October.
While it may be surprising so many popular products have been exempt from Canada's legalization plan, patients are unsure if the new legalized market for recreational cannabis will be the solution they had been hoping for, time will tell if customers continue to buy weed online or at dispensaries when the time comes.
"Hopefully everyone can get what they need, and in the long-term recreational legalization will be fantastic, but out the gate, it doesn't look like it" – President, MJN Express.
