BOUCHERVILLE, QC, Sept. 10, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Danone is excited to welcome home Team Canada after their awe-inspiring and heart wrenching International Final at the Danone Nations Cup in London, Great Britain. These young players didn't fall short of anyone's expectations and made their country proud by finishing in 14th place.
Team Canada played an impressive match against the renowned Team Brazil by winning 3-2 and tied against last year's champions from South Korea! After hours of practice and with great perseverance, the Canadian team returns home with an impressive record: 2 wins, 3 losses, and 2 draws at the Wembley Stadium, home to England's National Soccer team. In a hard-fought match, Canada ultimately lost against Spain during penalty shots in their final game.
"This year's event sparked a new energy and motivation in these young athletes; they were able to measure themselves against other talented young players from around the world in one of the greatest stadiums, Wembley", explained Dean Howie, Head Coach of Team Canada. "They'll now return to their clubs with a new perspective on the game and also knowing what they are capable of achieving."
