TORONTO, Nov. 21, 2014 /CNW/ - Special Olympics Canada welcomed some of Canada's top celebrity athletes and personalities for a night of celebration and support at LIMITLESS: The Special Olympics Canada Gala. LIMITLESS brought together Special Olympics athletes, Canadian celebrities and Special Olympics supporters alongside our honored partner for the evening, Coca-Cola Canada, to celebrate LIMITLESS happiness. The evening consisted of incredible live performances, exclusive silent and live auction prizes, as well as an emotional speech from Special Olympics parent, Nat Mountain, ending with the interactive dueling pianos and activities at the incredible after-party.
LIMITLESS was an opportunity for more than 700 Special Olympics supporters to mingle with celebrities, including Brendan Shanahan, Dion Phaneuf, Elisha Cuthbert, Jamie Salé, Brian Burke, Damian Warner, Elaine Lui, Rosie MacLennan and Mark Tewksbury, to name a few, and Special Olympics athletes. Hosted by TSN's on-air personalities, Jennifer Hedger and Rod Black, and held at the iconic Fairmont Royal York Hotel, the 2014 LIMITLESS Gala paid tribute to "Happiness" and celebrated the joy Special Olympics programs bring to more than 38,000 Canadians with an intellectual disability across the country.
This year's live and silent auction prizes included one-of-a-kind experiences like: cheering on the Montreal Canadiens in an exclusive Coca-Cola suite with Canada's Queen of the Courts, Genie Bouchard; tickets to two of the hottest sporting events of the year, Super Bowl XLIX and the Waste Management Phoenix Open in Phoenix, Arizona; Centre Court tickets for the Men's Semifinals of the 2015 Wimbledon Championships; and a 7-night stay for up to 18 guests in a luxury villa in Tuscany, Italy, among countless others.
"This year's LIMITLESS Gala, much like in years passed, has been an incredible show of support from national partners, fans, devotees of the movement and celebrities alike," said Special Olympics Canada CEO, Sharon Bollenbach. "Alongside tonight's honored partner Coca-Cola Canada, LIMITLESS has truly highlighted the transformative power and joy of Special Olympics, raising funds and awareness for programs across the country. We at Special Olympics Canada are thrilled and thank all those who came out to celebrate LIMITLESS Happiness with us."
