TORONTO, Aug. 31 /CNW/ - In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Gemini Awards, Canadians can take a nostalgic look back at the greatest homegrown programs from the last 25 years and vote for their favourite online.
Beginning Wednesday September 15, TV lovers can make their selection from a list of programs housed on a new, interactive website: www.favetvshow.ca. Compiled by a group of seasoned television critics, these shows were shortlisted from all series broadcast during 1985 - 2010 inclusive.
From timeless family classic Anne of Green Gables to quirky comedy Trailer Park Boys, the final list encompasses drama, comedy, reality and lifestyle genres. The complete list of the top 25 shows will be found at www.favetvshow.ca.
Celebrating 25 years of Canadian television, www.favetvshow.ca features clips, photos and series information on the selected programs. Viewers can either vote online, tweet their favourite show on Twitter, or comment via Facebook - every vote counts.
Canadians can have their say until Friday October 29 when the votes will be tallied for the gala broadcast. Special guests will present the countdown of Canada's favourite TV shows throughout the awards ceremony on Saturday November 13, broadcast on Global and Showcase.
Additional broadcast details and presenters will be announced in the coming weeks.
