The 25th Annual Gemini Special Awards Announced
TORONTO, Oct. 19 /CNW/ - The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2010 Special Awards. These awards will be presented at the 25th Annual Gemini Awards Industry Galas, taking place November 2nd and 3rd at the Kool Haus Entertainment Complex, and at the Broadcast Gala, taking place November 13th at the historic Winter Garden Theatre.
"Each of this year's Special Awards recipients has demonstrated a passion for and commitment to the Canadian television industry that is both admirable and inspiring," said Sara Morton, CEO, Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television. "We are proud to recognize the achievements of those whose vision and dedication have been instrumental to the success of Canadian television across the country and around the world."
This year's recipients are:
Academy Achievement Award - Linda Schuyler, co-creator and executive producer, Degrassi.
Canada Award - Neil Diamond's Reel Injun, produced by Rezolution Pictures, co-produced by the National Film Board of Canada, and in association with CBC News Network.
Gemini Humanitarian Award - Joy Coghill, co-founder and Honorary President of the Performing Arts Lodge Vancouver (PAL).
Margaret Collier Award - Donald Martin (Too Late to Say Goodbye, The Christmas Choir, Céline, Shadow Lake, No Blame).
Outstanding Technical Achievement Award in Digital Media - Alon Marcovici, Vice President, Digital Media, CTV for CTVOlympics.ca/RDSolympiques.ca - Live Sports Video Stream Player.

Launched by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television in 1986, the Gemini Awards honour outstanding achievements in the Canadian English-language television industry. The 25th Annual Gemini Awards will bring together Canada's most gifted performers, craftspeople, producers and decision-makers over several evenings of special events in Toronto. The Industry Gala Presentations will take place on Tuesday November 2nd and Wednesday November 3rd at the Kool Haus Entertainment Complex; the Broadcast Gala will take place on Saturday November 13th at the historic Winter Garden Theatre and will be broadcast on Global and Showcase at 8pm.
