MONTREAL, April 15, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Can't wait to plan your next vacation? Travelling with an aging parent, a child in a stroller or a loved one with a functional limitation, whether a visual, hearing or other physical impairment? The Accessible Road is an essential travel planning resource you can use for your next getaway to Québec!
The Accessible Road is available at www.theaccessibleroad.com. There, you will find all kinds of inspiring travel ideas, hundreds of services, places to stay and tourist attractions in 15 Québec regions, offered by 230 partners that have been certified by Kéroul and by more than 1,500 individuals who have completed the Welcoming Ways training program to better accommodate and meet the needs of persons with restricted physical ability.
New this year: On The Accessible Road Web site, you can now share your top picks and exciting discoveries on Facebook as well as check out those of other users: a sure-fire way to put together a truly unforgettable vacation!
The more we encourage accessible establishments, the more aware people will be of how important they are. Make the most of your trip with the handy tool The Accessible Road, and tell your friends and family about it. After all, vacationing in Québec is a chance to encounter genuine people, discover little-known villages, savour local delicacies and witness breathtaking scenery... most importantly though, it is a chance that is open to everyone!
Remember, disabled persons account for 10 to 15% of the province's population and this number is rising in light of the aging population. Fifty-nine per cent of this clientele has travelled in the last 24 months. The average trip to Québec is four days long and the duration is longer when compared with data collected from the general population. That is precisely where The Accessible Road comes in: providing this clientele with information on the destinations that are prepared to accommodate them. "And these are loyal customers who will keep going back to those places that offer a hospitable welcome," adds Kéroul Founder, President and CEO André Leclerc.
The Accessible Road is an initiative of Kéroul, a non-profit organization whose mission is to increase the accessibility of tourism and cultural infrastructures for people with limited physical ability. Kéroul would like to thank the Ministère du Tourisme du Québec, the regional tourism associations and Canada Economic Development for their financial support.
