SAINTE-JULIE, QC, April 16, 2019 /CNW Telbec/ - The Agri-Food Export Group Quebec-Canada (Export Group) is pleased to announce the three finalists of the first edition of the Alizés Awards, selected by a jury of recognized experts in the field of agri-food exports. The Alizés Awards celebrate the excellence of the work accomplished by Canadian agri-food companies that have distinguished themselves in international markets and are presented by Farm Credit Canada, the event's lead partner. The winners will be unveiled during the Alizés Evening, on the sidelines of SIAL Canada 2019, on April 30th at the Beanfield Center in Toronto.
At the end of the deliberations, the jury selected three finalists who proudly represent the expertise of the exporting companies in the Canadian agri-food industry:
- Jefo Nutrition Inc., a family-owned company based in Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec since 1982 is today one of the world's leading companies in the field of high performance non-medicated nutritional solutions for animals. Jefo's mission is to improve animal health and increase human longevity by providing communities with better proteins.
- The Maple Treat Corporation, a division of Lantic Inc, was founded in 1975. It is one of the largest manufacturers of pure maple syrup in the world. Its processing plants are strategically located in Granby, Dégelis and St-Honoré-de-Shenley, Quebec and in Barre, Vermont, while its distribution center in British Columbia allows it to better serve its customers in Asia.
- Wendell Estate Honey Inc. is a company founded by Tim and Isabel Wendell in 2011 and located in the Canadian Prairies in Roblin, Manitoba. It was created to allow this family of beekeepers to sell their Wendell Estate raw and natural honey all over the world. The Wendell family has been producing honey since the 1930s.
"The jury particularly appreciated the strategies put in place by the finalists to increase their presence and sales on international markets, develop new markets and generate profitable and sustainable growth," explains André A. Coutu, President and CEO of the Export Group. "These strategies demonstrate the excellence and expertise of Canadian agri-food companies in exporting."
The grand prize, the Alizé of the Year, will be awarded to one of these three finalists on the occasion of the Alizés Evening and will reward the finalist whose marketing strategies, impressive growth or structuring consolidation will have allowed it to stand out in the international markets over the past year.
The jury will also award the Alizé Jury's Choice to the company that has been particularly successful in international markets through innovative and bold strategies.
The Alizés Awards, organized for the first time this year, are the successor to the Canadian Export Business Award given by the Export Group since 2007.
