The Architecture of Investigation: Steven Ploeger joins DIALOG
TORONTO, May 14, 2013 /CNW/ - Steven Ploeger recently joined the DIALOG Toronto studio in a new role as its Laboratory and Science Planning Leader, leveraging his 25 years of experience in the project areas of science and technology, healthcare, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, forensics, vivarium, law enforcement, and higher education, with a focus on research and investigative laboratories.
"This is an exceptional addition to the DIALOG team," says Principal Craig Applegath. "Steven is highly regarded across Canada as a thought leader and his specialized science and technology and lab design expertise brings a new skill set to our studio. Steven's role will be helping our clients augment their research capabilities--we want to be part of the push to situate Canadian companies and institutions at the very forefront of innovation."
Steven graduated from the University of Michigan with a Master of Architecture and has since built his reputation designing innovative labs including the award-winning Chemical Science Building at Trent University and the Claudette McKay Lassonde Pavilion - Spencer Engineering Addition at Western University. While the majority of his experience is in science and technology and academic research, Steven believes he can plug his expertise into a wide range of projects at DIALOG, nesting his specialty within a variety of programs.
Known for his collaborative approach with clients, Steven suggests that his approach aligns perfectly with the collaborative, integrated design process that DIALOG has built its growing reputation upon.
"What excites me most about DIALOG is the culture," he says. "It's a team-based approach with a real focus on the sharing of ideas. A project doesn't have to be limited by a singular perspective -- it can be approached from multiple perspectives, bringing in the right expertise to bear wherever it may reside. It could be someone from another discipline, another sector, or another studio. It's never a single perspective's project--it's always a DIALOG project."
