season of activities
MONTREAL, Sept. 17 /CNW Telbec/ - The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal and its team of international trade experts from the World Trade Centre Montréal are pleased to launch their 2010-2011 season of activities under the theme "Exporting Quebec - Small Business Conquering the World."
"For 2010-2011, the World Trade Centre Montréal has decided on a strategy of specialization, because before conquering the world, we have to learn to conquer targeted markets that are appropriate for our products and services, not to mention our means, and that offer major potential for development," said Michel Leblanc, President and CEO of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal and the World Trade Centre Montréal. "With the 'Exporting Quebec' initiative, the World Trade Centre Montréal team will concentrate its efforts on developing a limited number of markets to optimize the international positioning of the companies that we support in this venture."
"Without abandoning other markets, our team of international trade experts will offer activities this year around the three pillars of our international positioning: India, the Middle East and the United States," Mr. Leblanc said. "For each 'Exporting Quebec' initiative, we will offer a cycle of activities to support the development of businesses in these markets, and we will publish a special supplement in cooperation with La Presse. Each cycle will end with a trade mission to establish ties with business partners."
The "Exporting Quebec" initiative is produced in cooperation with the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, Export Development Canada and La Presse. The World Trade Centre Montréal also receives support from Canada Economic Development.
For more than 25 years, the World Trade Centre Montréal has been meeting the growing needs of small businesses that want to exploit their potential in international trade. In 2009-2010, more than 1,500 representatives of close to 900 companies participated in the Board of Trade's international trade activities. Among these, 310 took advantage of one-on-one meetings with potential buyers and partners.
