OTTAWA, May 7, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - From May 9-11, 2018, the Canada Council for the Arts will host the first Americas Cultural Summit, which will bring together leaders in public funding of arts and culture from across the Americas in Canada's capital. Inspired by renowned thought leaders in the arts, participants will explore the concept of cultural citizenship through political, social, economic and cultural lenses. They will discuss their role and impact on the theme of cultural citizenship, including on cultural rights, democratizing technology in the digital age, arts and social change, reconciliation, and diversity and inclusion.

- Alberto Manguel, Director of the National Library of Argentina and Writer
- Karima Bennoune, UN Special Rapporteur in the field of cultural rights
- Astra Taylor, writer, organizer and documentarian whose works include What is Democracy?, Zizek!, and Examined Life
- Alonso Salazar, writer, former mayor of Medellin, Colombia
