MONTREAL, June 16, 2020 /CNW Telbec/ - To celebrate Canada Day in Montreal, Tandem Communication presents an all-new 60-minute show to be webcast on July 1, 2020 at 7 p.m. from Olympic Stadium, a highly symbolic place in this exceptional period. This show was put together in record time.
This year, in order to comply with the sanitary rules imposed by the public health authorities, Tandem Communication had to think outside the box to arrange this show in an innovative format and present a striking visual quality, while respecting social distancing measures. The show pays homage to Montreal's cultural diversity in a stylish and intimate atmosphere, featuring Canadian singer-songwriters.
"In four weeks, more than 60 people put together this unique and unifying vision to offer Montrealers and Canadians a special time with artists in a spirit of solidarity. This pandemic period presented us with a unique opportunity to create an intimate show and give free rein to our imagination in order to highlight the character of our city. You will feel as if you were there," stated Stéphane Guertin, President of Tandem Communication.
A program worthy of Montrealers
Martha and Rufus Wainwright, Charlotte Cardin, Hubert Lenoir, Patrick Watson and Elisapie will deliver breathtaking individual performances without an audience in the centre of the field at Olympic Stadium. In addition to the artists' performances, capsules will feature Montrealers from different parts of the city sharing their vision of Montreal and Canada.
Mayor Valérie Plante and Minister of Canadian Heritage Steven Guilbeault will speak during the show.
"Montreal is a vibrant cultural metropolis and despite the COVID-19 pandemic, its creativity, inventiveness and resilience have not faded. This extraordinary show will be engraved in our memory for years to come as a symbol of this resilience. Montreal is also a supportive city, proud of its rich diversity and of the wealth of unique talent that inspires Montrealers and transcends all boundaries. I am thrilled to see all these forces converge today in our wonderful metropolis. Enjoy the celebrations!", mentioned Valérie Plante, Mayor of Montreal.
"After several months of isolation, Canadians need to come together, even virtually, to celebrate the richness and diversity of their heritage," said the Honourable Steven Guilbeault, Minister of Canadian Heritage. "Canada Day will give us an opportunity to rediscover our artists, who reflect our rich, inclusive culture. I really hope everyone will come out to the July 1st celebration."
