The Canadian Medical Hall of Fame supports outstanding community-minded youth pursuing health sciences Français
LONDON, ON, Aug. 28 2018 /CNW/ - One high school student in each of four regions across Canada has been named to the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame | Great-West Life, London Life and Canada Life Scholarship. These exceptionally bright and community-minded students begin their university education this September with $4,000 toward their undergraduate degree in medicine or a health science field at a Canadian university.
The 2018 scholarship recipients are:
Anne Xuan-Lan Nguyen of Montreal, QC attending McGill University (Med-P Preparatory Program)
"Thank you for encouraging me to pursue a journey in the field of medicine. This scholarship has reinforced my desire to assist those in need and bring innovation to health care in Canada."
Emily Lam of Port Moody, BC attending Simon Fraser University (Bachelor of Science in Health Science)
"As I start my journey into higher education, this award will help me to pursue my passions and work towards my aspiration to become a pediatric cardiologist and a health and social innovator. I am truly appreciative of your support in helping me and other young leaders follow our dreams and make a difference in health care."
Erin Parna-Gile of Oro-Medonte, ON attending McMaster University (Life Sciences)
"It is inspiring to learn about people through the CMHF and the many different areas in which individuals influence the lives and well-being of others. Receiving this scholarship reinforces my desire to pursue my passion of studies in human psychology, neuroscience and behavior, hopefully towards a career that involves clinical practice and/or research.
Willow Squires of St. John's, NL attending Memorial University of Newfoundland (Bachelor of Science)
"In addition to easing some of the financial burden of education, this scholarship encourages me to maintain a strong work ethic as I pursue my dream of a career in the medical field. It has shown me the merits of my hard work and dedication towards academics and community involvement, and for that I am immensely grateful."
