TORONTO, Oct. 27, 2015 /CNW/ - The Canadian Race Relations Foundation (CRRF) will celebrate the 19th anniversary of the proclamation of its governing legislation, the Canadian Race Relations Foundation Act, with an Open House and Citizenship reaffirmation ceremony tomorrow, Wednesday October 28 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m., at its National Office (Toronto).
"Nineteen years later, the founding vision and mission of the Foundation, born out the struggle of Japanese Canadians for the rights of full citizenship, remain relevant and vital," explained Albert Lo, Chairperson of the CRRF. Anita Bromberg, Executive Director, added, "With the growing diversity of the country's populations and the promises and challenges it presents, the need to bring communities together in dialogue based on democratic principles and social cohesion remains essential.
It is from this vision that the CRRF draws its ongoing commitment to deepening its vital role in helping nurture a country built on Canadian values, a strong sense of identity and belonging, and social cohesion. According to Chairperson, Albert Lo, this quest for social cohesion is "the tie that binds and is the focal point supporting CRRF's collective efforts. By taking the opportunity to highlight our recent programming and partnerships in support of this goal, the Citizenship reaffirmation ceremony will give us the opportunity to reconfirm our commitment to this country and to our mission on this milestone date."
