MONTRÉAL, Sept. 11, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - CDN—NDG Borough Council adopted its 2016-2018 Three-Year Capital Works Program (CWP) at special council meeting held September 8, 2015. Adopted unanimously, the CWP represents investments of $6,830,000 per year, for a total of almost $20.5 million over three years.
"In recent months, we consulted citizens through our Interactive Budget as well as a telephone survey. In doing so, we were able to observe first-hand how important the state of the borough's roads and sidewalks is to our residents," said Borough Mayor Russell Copeman.
Starting in 2016, the CDN—NDG Borough will invest close to $3 million in its road infrastructures through the Road Repair Program, with the money going toward sidewalk repairs, traffic calming measures, catch basin repairs and street furniture. An additional $2,840,000 will be invested in buildings and parks, including work to upgrade the Bill-Durnan Arena, the installation of new water play modules, and the rehabilitation of chalets in certain parks within the borough. Added to this is a sum of $1.1 million earmarked for the ongoing renewal of the borough's fleet of vehicles.
"As a complement to these efforts, which include close to $3 million to rehabilitate our roads and sidewalks, the central city will invest $6,608,000, for a total sum of $9.6 million in 2016, which represents an historic investment for our borough," added Mayor Copeman.
