SAGUENAY, QC, Dec. 19, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Régions (CED)
By investing in organizations that help business start-ups, the Government of Canada is directing resources to initiatives that have the greatest positive impact on the lives of Canadians.
Acting on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, David Lametti, Member of Parliament for LaSalle—Émard—Verdun and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, announced that the Centre d'entrepreneuriat et d'essaimage de l'Université du Québec à Chicoutimi (website in French only) has been granted $795,000 in financial assistance over a three-year period, in the form of a non-repayable contribution, to provide services tailored to those who want to start a business.
Since 1998, the CEE-UQAC has been promoting entrepreneurship and business creation among students from the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi (UQAC) and colleges in the area. This non-profit organization acts as an intermediary, providing management consulting services for students wishing to explore the potential of projects and organizes conferences for the regional entrepreneurial community. It connects graduates in the science and engineering sector with SMEs to carry out technological projects. The funding awarded through CED's Quebec Economic Development Program (QEDP) will help support the CEE-UQAC's operating costs so that it can provide customized business start-up services and help SMEs carry out technological projects.
