MONTREAL, May 20, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - The Circuit bleu Charles-Bruneau will see some big-hearted kayakers paddle more than 110 km in four days, either solo or as part of a relay team, with the objective of circumventing the Island of Montreal. The event runs from September 18 to 21, 2014. Official spokesperson Mylène Paquette invites the public to register in large numbers and thus join her in lending renewed hope to children with cancer.
The Route bleue du Grand Montréal, the event's official route, will allow kayakers to discover Montreal's urban landscapes from a completely different perspective, as well as the stunning beauty of its natural environments. Seasoned kayakers and amateurs alike are invited to take up the challenge. Paddling solo or on teams of two or four, the kayakers will circumvent the entire island with the mandate to raise $5,000 per team in support of the Fondation Centre de cancérologie Charles-Bruneau.
Dedicated spokesperson, inspiring hero
Mylène Paquette, an ocean paddler and former beneficiary attendant at CHU Sainte-Justine's Centre de cancérologie Charles-Bruneau, is proud to serve as official spokesperson for this event. Her ocean treks have allowed her to understand the feelings of powerlessness that children experience before the vast unknown that is cancer. In 2011, Félix Lapointe, the hero of the Circuit, was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma; he was 6 years old at the time. Félix will travel alongside Ms. Paquette in order to encourage the kayakers and talk about his battle with cancer.
