THETFORD MINES, QC, Aug. 25, 2017 /CNW/ - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)
The City of Thetford Mines (website in French only) will be able to create a new corporate image and implement a communication plan for its revised visual identity thanks to $571,500 in financial assistance, granted in the form of a non-repayable contribution, from Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions.
The announcement of this assistance to the seat of the Appalaches RCM was made by the Honourable Marie-Claude Bibeau, Minister of International Development and La Francophonie and Member of Parliament for Compton–Stanstead, acting on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED.
Communities need to build on innovation to diversify themselves strategically and develop lasting regional competitive advantages. As such, support for community transition and diversification is a priority for the Government of Canada.
The new City of Thetford Mines was created in 2001, following a municipal merger. The funding awarded through CED's Canadian Initiative for the Economic Diversification of Communities Reliant on Chrysotile will help the City of Thetford Mines create a new visual identity to stimulate investment and recruit professionals in specialized business lines, including clean technology.
