The Clean Energy Association of BC - News Release
VANCOUVER, Feb. 21, 2012 /CNW/ - The Clean Energy Association of BC (CEBC) today welcomed the BC Government's commitment in Budget 2012 to the continued development of clean energy and to the completion of the Northwest Transmission Line.
"Although the budget documents do not deal with clean energy in detail, we look forward to working with the Government in firming up the role of private power producers will play once BC Hydro completes its Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) later this year and the impacts of the Government's Natural Gas and LNG strategies are determined," said Paul Kariya, CEBC Executive Director.
"We note the Budget allocates a total of $531 Million in Provincial, Federal and private funds to completion of the Northwest Transmission Line in the spring of 2014. This project has major implications for the development of private power projects to serve LNG facilities and new mines in the Northwest.
"We also commend the Government for proceeding with a scheduled increase in the Carbon Tax and other components of the Clean Energy Act and are hopeful that the scheduled review of the Carbon Tax will result in a continued emphasis on policies to reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions."
